According to police officials, three men riding a motorcycle approached the pair, falsely identifying themselves as forest department officials.
The suspects began demanding money and attempted to blackmail the visitors. When the victims refused to comply, the suspects assaulted the male friend, tying his hands and feet. They then dragged the young woman into the nearby bushes and gang-raped her. When she resisted, the assailants beat her severely and threatened her with dire consequences before fleeing the scene.
